Ulcers

Stomach ulcer/ gastric ulcer is a medical condition that causes painful sores in the stomach lining. Stomach ulcers are classified as peptic ulcer disease. Peptic ulcers are ulcers that affect the small intestine as well as the stomach.

Stomach ulcers form when the layer of mucus protecting the stomach from digestive juices is decreased. This results in the digestive juices eating away and damaging the tissues that line the stomach, leading to an ulcer.
