Blood Sugar

Blood sugar level refers to the amount of glucose present in the blood. The human body regulates glucose as a part of the body’s metabolic homeostasis. It is stored in the liver cells and skeletal muscles.

Glucose acts as the primary source of energy (energy currency) in the human body and is essential for the normal functioning of tissues, particularly the tissues present in the brain.

Blood sugar levels that lie outside the normal range may be an indicator of a severe medical condition. A persistently high blood sugar level is also known as hyperglycemia, while low levels are known as hypoglycemia.
